What is Sucralose?

Sucralose is the only no calorie sweetener that is made from sugar. Sucralose is produced by changing three alcohol groups on the sugar molecule with three chlorine atoms. This results in a stable sweetener that tastes like sugar without the calories.
Because sucralose is heat stable, it works better than most other no calorie sweeteners in cooking and baking.
Is Sucralose safe?
Sucralose is currently being used in more than 30 countries around the world. The FDA approved it for use in 1998. Studies over the past 20 years have proven it suitable for people of all ages including those with diabetes. Studies have shown that sucralose is not recognized by the body and therefore has no short or long term effect on blood glucose or on serum insulin levels. In addition, it is safe for women who are pregnant or nursing.
